Roles & Responsibilities of Registered Nurse
A Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct patient care, administers medications, coordinates with healthcare teams, and supports patients and their families through treatment and recovery. RNs work in various settings including hospitals, clinics, and community health centers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide Patient Care: Give medications, treatments, and help with daily activities.
- Monitor Patients: Check vital signs, track progress, and observe patients’ conditions.
- Create Care Plans: Work with doctors to make treatment plans for patients.
- Educate Patients: Teach patients and families about health, treatments, and prevention.
- Record Information: Keep detailed and accurate notes on patient care.
- Respond to Emergencies: Help in emergency situations and give first aid when needed.
- Work with a Team: Collaborate with doctors, other nurses, and healthcare staff.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Education: Must have a nursing degree (Associate’s or Bachelor’s) and pass a licensing exam.
- Clinical Skills: Ability to care for patients, including giving medications and treating wounds.
- Good Communication: Talk clearly with patients, families, and staff.
- Critical Thinking: Make quick, effective decisions in emergencies.
- Compassion: Show kindness and care toward patients.
