Roles & Responsibilities
A Weaving Technician is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining weaving machines to ensure efficient fabric production. This role involves troubleshooting mechanical and technical issues, monitoring fabric quality, and optimizing machine performance to meet production targets in the textile industry.
Key Responsibilities
Machine Setup & Operation
- Prepare and set up looms and weaving machines according to fabric specifications.
- Ensure correct warp and weft yarns are loaded and aligned properly.
- Monitor machine performance and adjust settings to optimize efficiency.
Troubleshooting & Maintenance
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and technical issues in weaving machines.
- Perform routine maintenance, including cleaning, oiling, and replacing worn-out parts.
- Minimize machine downtime by quickly resolving faults and breakdowns.
Fabric Quality Control
- Inspect woven fabric for defects such as misweaves, broken yarns, or tension issues.
- Adjust machine settings to maintain consistent fabric quality.
- Work closely with quality control teams to ensure products meet industry standards.
Process Optimization & Efficiency
- Improve weaving processes to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
- Recommend machine upgrades or modifications for better performance.
- Ensure optimal utilization of raw materials and minimize defects.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow safety protocols while handling machinery and tools.
- Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety regulations.
- Train operators on safe machine operation and troubleshooting techniques.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Textile Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- 2-5 years of experience in weaving machine operation and maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of warp and weft systems, loom mechanics, and fabric structures.
- Experience working with rapier, air-jet, water-jet, or shuttle looms.
- Ability to diagnose mechanical issues and perform machine repairs.
- Familiarity with textile quality control processes.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
