Job Description

A Flight Attendant ensures the safety, comfort, and well-being of passengers during a flight. They are responsible for providing exceptional customer service while adhering to safety protocols. Their role includes emergency preparedness, managing in-flight services, and assisting passengers throughout the flight.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Passenger Safety & Emergency Procedures:
Demonstrate safety procedures to passengers, including seat belt usage, oxygen mask operation, and evacuation protocols.
Ensure all safety equipment is functioning, including oxygen masks, life vests, and emergency exits.
Respond to emergencies, including medical incidents, fire, or aircraft evacuation, and assist passengers as needed.
Monitor passenger behavior to ensure compliance with safety regulations, including seat belt signs and prohibited items.
2. Customer Service:
Greet passengers as they board and assist with finding seats and storing carry-on items.
Serve food, drinks, and other amenities, ensuring a high level of service and comfort.
Address passenger inquiries and concerns, resolving any issues promptly and courteously.
Assist passengers with special needs, such as children, the elderly, or those with disabilities.
3. Pre-flight Duties:
Participate in pre-flight briefings to review flight details, special passenger needs, and safety procedures.
Ensure the aircraft is stocked with necessary supplies, including food, beverages, blankets, and medical kits.
Conduct a cabin inspection to confirm that safety equipment is in place and the cabin is tidy.
4. In-flight Operations:
Deliver in-flight announcements regarding safety, flight status, and cabin services.
Ensure passengers comply with safety and comfort guidelines throughout the flight.
Monitor the cabin for cleanliness, comfort, and any potential safety hazards.
Provide assistance during turbulence, delays, or other disruptions.
5. Post-flight Responsibilities:
Assist passengers with disembarking the aircraft, ensuring a smooth and safe exit.
Complete post-flight reports, noting any incidents, issues, or passenger concerns.
Clean and prepare the cabin for the next flight.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
Communication Skills: Clear and confident communication with passengers and crew members.
Customer Service: Ability to create a positive experience by providing friendly, responsive service.
Problem Solving: Ability to stay calm and composed in emergencies or stressful situations.
Physical Stamina: Must be able to stand for long periods, assist passengers with their luggage, and handle various physical tasks.
Attention to Detail: Ability to follow detailed safety procedures and identify potential risks or hazards.
Teamwork: Strong ability to collaborate with other crew members to ensure a safe and smooth flight.
Adaptability: Ability to adjust to changing situations and deal with flight delays, weather changes, and passenger needs.

Education & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent (some airlines may require a college degree).
Completion of an FAA-approved flight attendant training program.
Previous experience in customer service or hospitality is an advantage.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift, carry, and store items, such as luggage and service carts.
Ability to reach overhead compartments and stand for long periods.
Ability to meet medical and physical standards as defined by the airline.

Working Conditions:
Flights may take place during irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Extended travel, sometimes involving overnight stays in different cities or countries.
The role involves being on your feet for long periods and assisting with passengers’ needs in a confined space.
Occasional exposure to challenging weather conditions, turbulence, and jet lag.

Flight attendants may advance to senior roles such as Lead Flight Attendant or Cabin Crew Supervisor.
