Junior Architect

Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

As a Junior Architect, you will support the architectural design process, assist with the creation of architectural drawings, models, and 3D visualizations, and ensure projects are aligned with design requirements and timelines. You will work under the guidance of senior architects and collaborate closely with clients, contractors, and other consultants to achieve high-quality outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

Design & Development:

• Assist in conceptual design and develop initial design concepts, mood boards, and sketches.
• Collaborate with the design team to translate concepts into detailed design solutions.
• Create architectural drawings, including floor plans, elevations, sections, and detailed construction drawings using AutoCAD or Revit.
• Produce 3D models and visual renderings using SketchUp, 3ds Max, Lumion, or other relevant software.
• Ensure that all designs adhere to the client’s vision and meet local building regulations and codes in Dubai.

Project Coordination:

• Assist in the preparation of project documentation, including technical specifications, schedules, and construction documents.
• Support senior architects in project coordination, liaising with other professionals such as engineers, contractors, and project managers.
• Help prepare presentation materials for client meetings, including renderings, 3D models, and design proposals.
• Participate in site visits to assess the progress of construction and ensure compliance with architectural designs.

Collaboration & Communication:

• Communicate effectively with both internal teams and external stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and other consultants.
• Attend and contribute to project meetings, providing updates on design progress and technical solutions.
• Collaborate closely with the construction team to ensure that the design vision is being accurately implemented during the build phase.

Technical Support:

• Assist in the development of detailed technical drawings, ensuring that all specifications, materials, and construction methods are clearly outlined.
• Review and comment on shop drawings and other contractor submissions to ensure alignment with design intent.
• Ensure that all designs comply with UAE building codes, zoning regulations, and sustainability standards.

Skills & Qualifications:

Educational Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture (or related field).
• A Master’s degree in Architecture (optional but beneficial).

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and SketchUp.
• Experience with 3D modeling and rendering software such as 3ds Max, Lumion, or V-Ray.
• Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modeling) and Revit for project collaboration.
• Strong knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).

Experience:

• 2-5 years of experience in architecture, preferably in a design-focused role.
• Experience with architectural drawings and construction documentation.
• Previous internship or project experience in a design firm or architecture-related industry is highly beneficial.

Personal Attributes:

• Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Familiarity with local building codes and regulations (knowledge of UAE regulations is a plus).
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work under deadlines.

Additional Requirements:

• Language: Proficiency in English is essential. Knowledge of Arabic is a plus but not required.
• Availability: Must be eligible to work in the UAE and possess the necessary work visa documentation (if applicable).
• Portfolio: A strong portfolio showcasing your design work, technical drawings, and project involvement is required.

Desirable Skills:

• Knowledge of sustainability practices in architecture and design.
• Experience with construction project management software (e.g., Procore, Aconex).
• Interest in cutting-edge technologies in architecture (e.g., smart buildings, green architecture, or innovative construction materials).Working Conditions:
• Office-based with occasional site visits to construction locations.
• Full-time position, with standard working hours; however, flexibility may be required depending on project deadlines.
• The role may involve some overtime during critical project phases.
